Whats
Important?
Its time to clear the air about whats important
in dust extraction. We hope these facts are helpful to you.
Filters
Heres a simple equation to remember:
| Too Much Air Volume |
= Dust |
| Too Little Filter Area |
Dirty filters reduce filtering capacity and suction
ability. Worn or ripped filters allow dust to escape into the workplace. Fine dust needs
more filter area than medium or coarse dust.
These are just three good reasons to talk to KTM. We can
help with filter bags made from the best materials available.
Ducting
Maintain optimum air flow and efficient performance with
quality piping and fittings from KTM. Instead of making due with pipes designed for
stoves, furnaces or air conditioners, be sure to use ducting designed for dust collection.
To prevent air/dust seepage, always caulk and seal all sections of the duct system.
Materials
Ask the experts at KTM! Extra precautions should be taken
in the following areas:
- never mix materials that can be dangerous in combination in
the same dust collection system, i.e., wood and metal
- explosion venting should be used when collecting aluminum
dust due to its highly explosive nature
- dust from MDF, concrete, stone or sanding operations can be
very fine; a low air to cloth ratio is required to provide adequate filtration
- asbestos dust should be exhausted to outside the workplace
Sizing
Lets get specific. What do you need in the way of
dust collection? KTM can analyze the CFM requirements for each machine and manufacture a
system for any application. This system can be designed for 60 to 100% capacity. We match
the type, size, speed and location of the blower to the type and size of the dust and
filter media.
