After uncrating your new KTM
portable dust collector, please check the motor for the correct voltage.
This dust collector comes with a dust tight, magnetic electrical
switch. A licensed electrician is required to connect the motor, switch and electrical
supply line. The switch can be mounted to the collector or remote on a nearby wall. Run
the fan and check to ensure the rotation turns toward the outlet (see diagram).

If this KTM portable dust collector is in continuous
use, please shake the filter bags every few hours. Filter bags will build up an excess
filter cake inside and this has to be shaken down. Clean filter bags improve the
performance of the dust collector.
The drum(s) or bottom bag(s) should be emptied
before they are completely filled. A tap on the side of the drum will give a good
indication of its capacity. To empty the drum or bag, open the quick release toggle
clamp, empty the drum or bag and return to its former position.
The filters can be washed or dry-cleaned as they are resistant to
shrinkage. If the colour of the filter bags changes from white to brown or even beige, the
filter material is saturated and the bags need to be washed or dry-cleaned.
Do not mix wood and metal dust in the same dust
collector. Metal chips and dust are warm and hot and may cause a fire or an explosion. A
separate dust collector should be used to collect metal dust.
When first starting up your new KTM dust collector,
a very small amount of dust may come through the filter bags. This will stop as soon as an
initial filter cake has been established. A handful or two of filter aid (gypsum powder)
will speed up this process.
If filter leaking persists, you do not have enough
filter area and you will require a dust collector with more filter area. Several models
are available.
If an unusually large piece of material is pulled
into the system, it will damage the fan blade (impeller) and the fan blade will have to be
replaced. The aluminum fan blade will absorb most sparks that enter the collector. If a
large piece enters the system and the fan blade does not break and gets stuck the motor
will burn out and have to be replaced or re-wound.
Your KTM "S" type portable dust collector
should be located in a dry area, away from water and excessive moisture. The filter bags
should not get wet, as moisture will clog them.
Our products are guaranteed against defects in
materials/workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Misuse or neglect will
negate the warranty.
The motor manufacturer guarantees motors for six
months.
Please Note: Warranty does not cover broken fan blades.
